Preventing dust mite infestations and the importance of palm tree pruning
The workshop, titled "Preventing Dust Mites and the Importance of Date Palm Pruning," will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, to highlight the most prominent challenges facing date farmers. It will focus on: Dust Mite Control: Providing a detailed explanation of the dust mite pest, how to identify early infestation symptoms, and the latest scientific and practical methods for controlling the pest and reducing its negative impact on fruit quality. Strategic Date Palm Pruning: Emphasizing the technical and economic importance of the "pruning" process (pruning fronds and fibers), clarifying the appropriate times for its implementation, and its positive effects on palm health, increased productivity, and reduced harvesting costs. Through this workshop, the association aims to empower farmers to implement best agricultural practices in accordance with modern standards for preserving the national date palm wealth.
